In-Chair Teeth Whitening – Pre & Post Treatment Care
At Seamless Skin Clinic, we offer in-chair teeth whitening to help you achieve a brighter, more confident smile. For the best results and to ensure a smooth experience, please follow the pre- and post-care guidelines below.
Pre-Treatment Instructions
One Week Before Treatment
-
Avoid stain-causing foods and drinks such as coffee, tea, red wine, and dark berries, as well as smoking. This will help ensure that your teeth are in the best possible condition before treatment.
-
Maintain good oral hygiene by brushing your teeth at least twice a day and flossing regularly.
-
If you have sensitive teeth, you may want to consider using a desensitizing toothpaste in the days leading up to your appointment.
-
Consult your dentist if you have any underlying oral health issues such as gum disease, cavities, or cracked teeth. These issues should be addressed prior to whitening.
24-48 Hours Before Treatment
-
Avoid acidic foods and drinks such as citrus, tomatoes, and carbonated beverages to reduce the risk of irritation during the whitening process.
-
Hydrate by drinking plenty of water to keep your mouth and gums healthy.
On the Day of Treatment
-
Brush your teeth thoroughly before your appointment to remove any plaque, food, or debris.
-
Arrive at your appointment with a clean mouth and avoid eating or drinking 30-60 minutes before the treatment.
Post-Treatment Care
Immediately After Treatment
-
Your teeth will appear visibly whiter immediately after the treatment. There’s no waiting for 24 hours to see results—your smile will be brighter instantly.
-
You may experience sensitivity in your teeth or gums after the procedure. This is normal and should subside within a few hours to a day.
-
Avoid stain-causing foods and drinks for at least 24-48 hours after the treatment. This includes coffee, tea, wine, berries, tomato sauce, and smoking, as your teeth may be more porous and prone to staining.
First 48 Hours
-
Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and help flush any remaining whitening gel from your mouth.
-
If you experience sensitivity, use a desensitizing toothpaste or consult your therapist for further recommendations.
-
Avoid acidic and overly hot or cold foods to prevent irritation to your sensitive teeth.
Days 3-7 After Treatment
-
You can resume your normal eating and drinking habits but continue to avoid stain-causing foods where possible for the first week.
-
Brush your teeth with a whitening toothpaste to help maintain the brightness of your smile.
-
Avoid smoking as it can stain your teeth and reduce the effectiveness of the whitening treatment.
Long-Term Care
-
To maintain a bright smile, continue to practice good oral hygiene by brushing twice a day and flossing regularly.
-
Consider regular touch-up treatments if desired or if you notice staining after extended periods.
-
Schedule professional cleanings with your dentist to maintain the health of your teeth and gums.
