Diode Laser Hair Removal – Pre & Post Treatment Care
At Seamless Skin Clinic, we prioritize your safety and the effectiveness of your laser tattoo removal treatments. To achieve the best results and ensure a smooth healing process, please follow these pre- and post-treatment guidelines carefully.
Pre-Treatment Instructions
To ensure optimal results, please follow these recommendations before your session:
48 Hours Before Treatment
-
You can have sun exposure and fake tan, but the skin must not be sunburned or irritated.
-
If you have been in the sun, ensure your skin is well-hydrated and not sensitive or peeling.
One Week Before Treatment
-
Avoid waxing, plucking, threading, or using depilatory creams, as the laser needs the hair follicle intact.
-
If using active skincare ingredients (e.g., retinol, AHAs, BHAs) on the treatment area, discontinue them at least three days before treatment to avoid irritation.
24-48 Hours Before Treatment
-
Shave the treatment area with a clean, sharp razor. Do not wax, pluck, or use depilatory creams.
-
Keep the skin clean and dry before your session. Avoid applying lotions, creams, oils, deodorants, or perfumes to the area.
-
Avoid excessive alcohol or caffeine intake, as they may increase skin sensitivity.
On the Day of Treatment
-
Wear loose, comfortable clothing to prevent irritation.
-
If you have concerns about discomfort, a mild pain reliever (e.g., paracetamol) can be taken before your session.
-
Inform your therapist of any recent sun exposure, medication changes, or skin conditions.
Post-Treatment Care
Proper aftercare will help protect your skin and enhance the effectiveness of the treatment.
Immediately After Treatment
-
Mild redness, swelling, and warmth in the treated area are normal and should subside within a few hours to a day.
-
A mild sunburn-like sensation may occur. Use a cool compress or aloe vera gel to soothe the skin.
First 24-48 Hours
-
Avoid hot showers, saunas, and steam rooms; use lukewarm water instead.
-
Keep the area clean and dry, and avoid applying harsh skincare products.
-
Avoid tight clothing over the treated area to prevent irritation.
-
Refrain from intense exercise and excessive sweating to reduce the risk of irritation.
48 Hours After Treatment
-
You can be in the sun but must wear SPF 50+ sunscreen on the treated area to prevent pigmentation changes.
-
Fake tan can be applied after 48 hours, once any redness or sensitivity has subsided.
Hair Shedding & Results
-
Treated hairs will gradually shed over 3 weeks. This is a sign the laser was effective.
-
Some hair regrowth is normal between sessions, but it will become finer and sparser over time.
-
For best results, multiple sessions are required. Your next session is typically scheduled 4-6 weeks later, depending on the treatment area and hair growth cycle.
